 Reserves Girls Edge Shenandoah 23-21

January 28, 2009 -  Knightstown’s junior varsity girls basketball team built a double-digit lead and then held on in the fourth quarter to defeat Shenandoah 23-21. The Lady Panthers improved their record to 12-5 with the key victory.

Knightstown was methodical in building its lead to 10 points heading into the final quarter. The Lady Panthers led after the first quarter 4-2, and then edged that up to 10-7 at the half.

Knightstown then shut out the Lady Raiders in the third frame, going on a 7-0 run to take a 17-7 lead into the final six minutes. That advantage would be just enough to hold on for the win after Shenandoah went on a 14-6 run in the fourth quarter.

Haley Cruse was high-point player for the Lady Panthers with six points. She also had three rebounds and two steals. Megan Chew scored five points and had two rebounds.

Haley Morgan scored four points, had a team-high seven steals and grabbed three rebounds. Ariel Sturgill contributed with four points, one rebound and one steal.

Hannah Smith scored two points, had three steals and grabbed three rebounds. Sarah Whiteside scored two points, had two steals, two assists and three rebounds.
