 'C' Team Stops Royals 48-35

January 7, 2009 -  Nolan Hall scored 22 points to lead Knightstown’s “C” basketball team to a 48-35 victory over Eastern Hancock. The young Panthers received offensive production from eight different players in the home court win over the Royals. Knightstown jumped out to a 12-7 first quarter lead when Hall nailed a trey and scored five points. Dillon Pugsley added three points, while Will Milton and Cody McDowell both scored two in the opening frame.

The Panthers then increased their margin to 24-12 by halftime when Hall knocked down another trey and had five more points in the second frame. Another trey from Brandon Carrender and field goals by McDowell and Zach Smith kept the Royals at bay.

Eastern Hancock made a run in the third quarter when Clark scored 14 of his team-high 20 points. The Royals put together a 16-11 run to trim the Knightstown lead to 35-28.

But the Panthers responded to the challenge in the fourth quarter, pulling away down the stretch. Hall hit two clutch three-pointers and scored eight points in the final stanza. Wes Hammer and McDowell also hit buckets in the fourth quarter.

Hall finished with 22 points, two rebounds, an assist and one steal. McDowell had a great game with six points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Carrender had three points on a trey, and added a team-high five assists. Cody Juday, Hammer and Smith all scored four points, Pugsley had three points, and Milton scored two points, dished out two assists and collected two rebounds.

The “C” team plays at home tonight (Wednesday) against Shenandoah and travels to Lapel on January 12.
