 KHS Netters Fall to Greenfield, Elwood

September 17, 2008 - Knightstown’s varsity tennis team lost to Greenfield-Central and Elwood last week.

Against the Cougars, Nick Dalton, Anthony Hibbert and Mitch Marsischke lost the numbers one, two and three singles matches by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.

In doubles play, Clay Ratliff and Kamron Beavers lost to Michael Davidson and Chris Madren 6-1 and 6-3. The number two doubles team of Cody McDowell and Garrett Palmer also lost their match.

At Elwood the two teams played pro-sets due to the adverse weather conditions.

In number one singles, McDowell fell by consecutive 8-0 scores. Dalton lost his matches 8-1 and 8-1, while Hibbert fell 8-0 and 8-4.

In doubles play, Ratliff and Beavers lost 8-2 and 8-4. Marsischke and Palmer fell 8-1 and 8-4.

Knightstown hosts the first round of the Henry County tournament on Friday at 4:30. The tournament is completed on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
