Race for Riley Next Wednesday
July 16, 2008 - NASCAR driver John Andretti is set to again help out Riley Hospital for Children. This marks the 12th year John has committed himself to helping raise money to support the wonderful work done at Riley.
Last year, Andretti’s efforts along with Kroger, General Mills, WIBC, and the complete team of partners, were able to surpass the $1 million mark in donations.
• Andretti will begin his involvement with a visit to the Hospital on Monday, July 21, from 3-6 p.m. Andretti will visit the children, sign autographs, and hand out goodie bags from Cheerios. He will be joined by two General Mills cereals characters, Lucky the Leprechaun and Honey Nut Cheerios Bee, who are always very popular with the kids.
• On Tuesday, July 22, from 6-9 p.m. the CountryMark Progressive Dinner moves to the Emmis Communications Lobby on Monument Circle. A night of fun, food and entertainment is planned for the first 100 lucky guests to register at www.race4riley.com and sending in the form with the appropriate donation.
• The Kroger Race for Riley, Presented by Cheerios, will take place Wednesday July 23, from 2-6 p.m. The racing will again be held at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The event is open to the public and everyone attending can enjoy great go-kart action, food, and radio controlled racing.
The action on the track will feature individuals who have made a $50 donation to Riley Hospital for Children and will race in various heats, with the winners having the opportunity to race against John Andretti. Those who have made a sponsor donation of $250 will automatically race against Andretti.
“This is such a great day and I’m excited to have Kroger and Cheerios involved as the event sponsors,” said Andretti. “Riley Hospital for Children holds a special place in my heart and there’s nothing better than seeing people come together for a good cause.”
All Kroger-owned stores in Indiana are participating in an in-store promotion allowing customers to make donations to Riley Hospital. For every $1 donation, customers receive $4 in coupons good on various General Mills products. The in-store promotion will run through August 2. The total amount expected to be donated to Riley by Kroger and Cheerios is over $100,000.
“Kroger is thrilled to sponsor John Andretti’s efforts to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children,” said Bob Moeder, President of Kroger Central Marketing Area. “We have a long-standing tradition of community engagement and are committed to Riley Hospital and the great work they do for our children. Our partnership with General Mills makes this event an even stronger one.”
“We’re proud to partner with Kroger in support of such a worthy cause,” said Cheerios Motorsports Marketing Manager Alison Miller. “We’re excited to participate in our 12th year of Race for Riley. Cheerios is committed to nourishing families. We’re delighted to celebrate the great work being done by the skilled teams at Riley Hospital to support families.”
