 Track Girls Fall to Raiders

April 30, 2008 - Knightstown varsity girls track team took one on the chin last Thursday at Shenandoah, losing 83-35.

Once again, lack of depth hurt the Lady Panthers. Knightstown managed to put up points in just eight of the 15 events and had first place finishes in only four events.

Diana Trautmann grabbed three first place ribbons for the Lady Panthers, winning the long jump (14-6), the 100-meter dash (14.2) and the 400-meter dash (1:05.6).

Janice Ortman had the other first place finish for Knightstown, capturing the shot put with a throw of 30-1/2. The Lady Panthers took all three spots in the shot, with Jocelyn Sturgill finishing second and Sabrina Hatfield third.

Hatfield also finished second in the discus and Ortman was third.

Brittany Osborne came in third in the 800-meter run and third in the 100-meter high hurdles.

Knightstown’s girls track team finished sixth in the Northeastern Invitational last Friday. The Lady Panthers didn’t have any first or second place finishes in the six-team field.

Senior Diana Trautmann finished third in the long jump (14-7 ¼), fourth in the 400- and 200-meter dashes and fifth in the 100.

Sabrina Hatfield was fifth in the shot put and Jocelyn Sturgill finished sixth.
