KHS Alum Ross Cosat Selected for Conference
April 23, 2008 - A former Knightstown High School athlete been selected to participate in the 2008 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference, which runs from May 25-29 in Orlando, Fla., at the Walt Disney World Resort. Representing the Ball State Cardinals will be sophomore golfer Ross Cosat. He will be joined by junior football defensive end Brandon Crawford of Fort Wayne South High School.
Cosat starred for the Panthers in golf, and finished fourth in the state tournament his junior year. He is attending Ball State on a golf scholarship.
"It is an honor to be one of the few Division I schools selected to send two student-athletes to the conference this year," said Ball State Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator Karin Lee. "I know both Ross and Brandon will represent the athletic department and the university in a positive manner. Both are high-character individuals who have worked really hard in their respective sports and are truly deserving of this honor."
The NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities.
The 2008 event will be conducted in two conferences. The first will be May 25-27 and the second will be May 27-29. Overall, 700 student-athletes will participate in the event, with each NCAA division having the opportunity to send 233 representatives. Cosat will represent BSU in the May 25-27 session, while Crawford will participate in the May 27-29 session.
