 Reds, Athletics, Red Sox Win in Boys Minor League

 

June 6, 2007 - Recent Knightstown Optimist Club boys minor league baseball game results were reported to The Banner as follows:

 

The Myra Wills Massage Therapy Reds improved their record to 5-0-1 with a 12-6 victory over the Farm World Tigers in boys minor league baseball action.

Drake Peggs hit two doubles and a single, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored, to lead a balanced attack by the winners. Spencer Mattix and Alex Fields both went 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Kaden Gabbard, Gerald Noe, Noah Stone, Jerad Mills and Jacob Rush all had hits for the Reds, and Noe’s was a double. Mattix slammed a home run for the winners.

Rufus Noe also scored a run, while Alex Fields and Quadere Noe were cited by their coaches as playing outstanding defense.

Mattix and Peggs combined to strike out five batters while sharing mound duty for the Reds.

 

The State Farm Insurance Athletics defeated the Knightstown Volunteer Fire Department Yankees in a thriller Monday night, 12-11.

Travis Hilton hit a grand slam for the winners, while Carlie Dick got his first single of the season. Cody Campbell and Josiah Jackson both went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Athletics.

There were no individual results reported for the Yankees.

 

The True Communications Red Sox out-slugged the Knightstown American Legion Cubs 12-9 in boys minor league baseball last Wednesday.

Tyler Helderbrand had the game’s big hit, a bases-loaded double in the second inning that drove in three crucial runs. The hit catapulted the Sox to a seven-run inning. Helderbrand went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored. Teammate Jacob Bearhope had a solo home run and scored three times. Jack Smith had a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth that gave the winners insurance. He drove home three runs in the game and scoring another.

Tyler Littleton also hit a triple, while Kaleb Buchanan doubled, scored twice and drove home a runner.

Riley Ruble scored twice, while Dakota Locker added another run for the winners. Michael Weiland and Mason Carmichael each drove home a run in the game. Bearhope pitched two innings and struck out six batters. He didn’t yield a run during his stint on the mound.

There were no individual results reported for the Cubs.
