KIS Girls Track Team Falls to Hagerstown, 83-16

April 18, 2007 - Knightstown’s junior high girls track and field team lost to Hagerstown Monday night 83-16.

The young Lady Panthers, extremely short on numbers this season, managed just two first place finishes in the meet.

Shay Pope won the shot put with a launch of 29’3”, and Ariel Sturgill won the discus with a throw of 52’7”. Her distance was a full 13 feet farther than Hagerstown’s best. Sturgill also finished third in the shot put. Pope also had a second place finish in the 100-meter dash, and came in third in the 200-meter dash.

Michelle Hochstedler finished third in the high jump with a leap of 4’2”.

Coach Kristin Crawford’s team will be in action at home this Thursday when they go against Lapel and Wes-Del in a three-way meet.
