Ortman, Wyatt Win Two Events to Lead Junior High Panthers Past Tigers, 50-49

April 18, 2007 - Danny Ortman and Bobby Wyatt won two events apiece, Lane Fields grabbed another first place, and the Knightstown junior high track team defeated Hagerstown Monday night 50-49.

Ortman took first place in the 100-meter dash (11.61) and high jump (5’5”), while Wyatt grabbed first place ribbons in the discuss (93’2”) and the 800-meter run (2:41) for the Panthers.

Fields easily won the long jump with a leap of 17’3”, winning by nearly three feet. Knightstown’s 400-meter relay team also won, but the names of those participants were not made available.

Getting second place finishes for the Panthers were Ortman in the shot put, Brandon Carrender in the 110-meter low hurdles, Zak Smith in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Rech in the 1600-meter run, Fields in the 400-meter run and the 1600-meter relay team.

Rech also had a third place finish in the 800-meter run and Thomas was third in the discus.

The Panthers will be at home this Thursday for a three-way meet with White River Athletic Conference foes Wes-Del and Lapel. The team is coached by Mike Byrnes.
