 JV Loses to Waldron 59-36

February 21, 2007 - Knightstown’s junior varsity basketball team was out-scored 27-4 during a six minute stretch over the first and second quarters, losing to visiting Waldron Friday night 59-36.

The Panthers had bolted out to a quick 5-0 lead on consecutive buckets from Chris Mefford. But the Mohawks scored 12 unanswered points before a bucket by Travis Titus, off a nice feed from Dustin Kwisz, cut the lead to 12-7.

The Panthers went down 20-9 at the end of the first quarter, and that lead ballooned to 36-16 at halftime.

Coach Justin Linch used every player available on his roster, and 10 of the 11 players scored in the contest.

Mefford finished with seven points, all coming in the first half. Colton Kinnaman also scored seven points, getting all of those in the final quarter.

Titus had six points, while Jordan Back scored four. Chipping in with two points apiece were Jordan Hauk, Kwisz, Anthony Forshey, Drew Martin, Levi Blair and Luke Hochstedler.

After trailing 49-24 through three quarters, the Panthers put together a 9-0 run in the final period to cut the lead to 52-36. Waldron scored the last seven points in the games final moments.
