Colonial Dames Join DAC in Richmond

May 28, 2008 - The Edward Pearson Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century met on May 9 at Friends Fellowship in Richmond for a joint luncheon with the Daughters of the American Colonists. The spring theme of hostess Melba McKnight included a variety of colorful spring flowers in small pots as table favors along with some sweet treats.

Following the luncheon President Cynthia Rhoades called the Colonial Dames XVII Century meeting to order. Chaplain Joan Short gave the Invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance of the Flag, The American's Creed, and the Salute to the Flag of the Colonial Dames XVIlC and the Object of the Society was repeated by the membership.

A thank you for clothing donations was read from the Lafayette Veterans Home that permanently houses Indiana veterans and their spouses. Treasurer Helen Hudson reported a donation had been sent to the Jefferson Township Trustee for cemetery restoration.

The program for the meeting was an auction of items donated by members. The auction total is divided equally between the two chapters. Colonial Dames portion will be used for projects not yet determined.

The next meeting is scheduled for July 11 at Friends Fellowship. Indiana State Colonial Dames President Pat Hiatt will be our guest.

Those present included Jackie Davis, Mary Hannum, Helen Hudson, Melba McKnight, Virginia Parsons, Cynthia Rhoades and Joan Short. Guests included Anne Marie Pack and Mary Ann Holder.
