 Clever Clovers Get Important Reminders

May 21, 2008 - A recent meeting of the Wayne Township Clever Clovers 4-H club was called to order by President Joe Haase. The American pledge was led by Larissa Shields and the 4-H Pledge by Hannah Thomas. 27 members answered roll call of "What is the name of the person sitting to your right?". In the absence of Brittany Brown, Casie Conley read the secretary's report. Dean Thomas read the treasurer's report in the absence of Travis Van Osdol. He reported that we have $627.98, which was unchanged since our last meeting. Dean also gave a Health and Safety report on the signs of a heart attack and what to do when one happens.

Before the demonstrations, Barb gave the members information on how to give a demonstration. Demonstrations were then given by Ciara Kline on "How to sew on a button", by Patty Jones on "What to put in a First Aid Kit", and "How to make chocolate chip cookie dough" by Evan Adams.

Old Business - Members were reminded that they can add/drop projects up to June 1st. Cole gave a report on the service project that 21 members of the club participated in. They collected canned goods for the Post Office which were taken to the local food pantry. Everyone was thanked for helping. Dates to remember:

For swine members - PQA - May 19 and June 26 at 6:00. Foam boards and plastic are still available at the Extension Office. Jubilee Days will be May 28-30. Leah reported that she has a sign up sheet for members to work at the lemon shake-up stand. She will be notifying you to help if you don't sign up tonight.

New Business - Barb informed members to watch for the next Clover Gazette. This will have necessary info about project changes. Livestock members were reminded to contact potential buyers if they intend to sell their animals at the auction.

More demonstrations were given. Salina Hamm informed members about rabbits, Lacy Thomas told them how to plant flowers in a pot, and Emily Thomas told how to make party mix.

The next meeting will be June 18th at 6:30 at KUMC. Thanks to Kori and Patty for refreshments. The meeting was adjourned to recreation by Leah Cline and refreshments.
