Waits Hosts Extension Homemakers
May 14, 2008 - The regular monthly meeting of the Town and Country Extension Homemakers was held on Tuesday, April 15, at the home of Kathryn Waits. President, Pam Bever, called the regular meeting to order at 7 p.m. The pledge to the American flag and the Homemaker's Creed were recited in unison.
For devotions Waits read from the book Quiet Moments and a Cup of Tea a story about encouragement.
Roll call was answered by eight members on "Name a favorite Easter dish."
For the cultural arts program, Waits read from a booklet entitled Remembrances written by Thomas Newby of Carthage. For the health and safety program, Sandra VanHoy presented a report entitled "Keep Bugs Away - Inside and Out."
During the business session, the members voted to journey to West Baden for the summer outing on June 17. A “show me” game was held with Waits being the winner.
A lesson on free recycling" was given by Diana Lee. Ideas were given on how to list items online for give away rather than dumping good, usable items in a landfill.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at the home of Sue Willcox. The meeting was adjourned and delicious refreshments, including of lemon chiffon cake and strawberry-rhubarb crunch, were served by Waits.
Those attending the meeting were Waits, Sonnie Thompson, Pam Bever, Lee, Melody Zapf, Brenda Reece, VanHoy and Judy Martin.
