Dinwiddie DAR Chapter Meets at Johnson Home
May 14, 2008 - The Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter DAR met at the home of Janet Johnson on May 2.
The program included presentation of a DVD entitled “Daughters from Coast to Coast.” It portrayed the historic, educational and patriotic activities of DAR members throughout America.
Regent Mary Ann Sitler led the DAR ritual. Election of officers was conducted. New officers include Regent Janet Johnson, Vice-Regent Dianne Taylor, Chaplain Amelia Wyatt, Recording Secretary Mary Ann Sitler, Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary Judy Martin, Registrar Amelia Wyatt, Historian Jane Proctor, Librarian Lucille Brock and Volunteer Information Specialist Janet Johnson.
The next meeting will be a luncheon on Saturday, June 21, at The Victorian Rose, 119 W. Main St., Greenfield. The meeting will be hosted by the Sarah Winston Henry Chapter DAR of New Castle. State Regent Cynthia T. Stout will speak.
Following the May 2 meeting, the chapter dedicated the DAR grave marker of Sharlee I. Kyser at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Chaplain Wyatt and Regent Sitler conducted the ceremony. Kyser died Aug. 16, 2006.
