 Taylor Hosts DAR Meeting

March 12, 2008 - The Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter DAR met at the home of Diane Taylor on March 7.

The program was given by Amelia Wyatt. Wyatt’s program revolved around “Grandma’s Wartime Kitchen” and several members offered memories of their own. In World War II, civilians experienced ration stamps, and shortages of meat, sugar, coffee, fats and other foods. According to Wyatt, many women worked outside the home for the first time in their lives. Members also recalled “Victory Gardens.”

Regent Mary Ann Sitler led the business meeting. The National Defense Report was given on “The Pledge of Allegiance.”

The next meeting will be a luncheon at the home of Shirley Henshaw of Dunreith at noon on Friday, April 4.
