Darlene Petry Honored at Ball State

Darlene Keesling Petry and other 1957 alumni of Ball State University were honored at a three-day Golden Anniversary celebration and festivities on the Ball State University campus and new Alumni Center.
During the formal dinner, alumni were presented a Golden Anniversary Ball State University pin and a lifetime certificate of membership to the Alumni Association by Edwin D. Shipley, Executive Director of the Alumni Association.
Ann Gora, President of Ball State University, addressed the honorees. She stressed the lifelong connection to Ball State University, the visions for the future, the growth of the campus, the millions of dollars being donated for new facilities, and the heart and soul of Ball State University.
Mrs. Petry was a 1953 graduate of Knightstown High School. After graduating from Ball State fifty years ago, she began teaching first grade at the Kennard school in the same room she had begun first grade. She replaced her first grade teacher, Mrs. Violet Runyan, who retired.
Darlene's father and mother had also had attended Kennard school.
Mrs. Petry is married to Malcolm E. Petry. They have four sons, Michael Allan of Seattle, W A, Jeffrey Wayne of Plymouth, IN, Ronald Keith of New Castle, and Jon Eric of Warsaw, IN. She has 8 grandchildren and is the daughter of Catherine Keesling of Knightstown and the late William Gerald and Isabelle Jane Darling Keesling.
