Kristin Haase Hosts Sorority Meeting
January 16, 2008 - The Alpha Zeta chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa met January 8 in the home of Kristin Haase.
Twenty-eight members garbed – according to a chapter press release – in “unfashionable, mismatched attire” answered roll call. Notes of appreciation were read from Nancy Gross and the Cheer Guild committee.
Cheer Guild Chairman Barb Haase thanked her shopping committee, and noted that 137 children from 61 families were served this Christmas. Spring Flower Chairman Brenda Buck distributed order forms, which must be turned in at the February meeting, for plants that will be delivered May 9.
Birthday Party Chairman Janet Linch discussed plans for the chapter’s March 15 100th birthday celebration. Invitations have been mailed, and historical displays are being prepared for what the chapter believes will be a memorable event.
Vice President Shannon Dawson gave a presentation on scholarships, noting that Tri Kappas statewide have joined in the “A Penny Saved Is A Penny Learned” campaign. By collecting just one penny per member per day, the organization has successfully boosted its Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Alpha Zeta chapter may submit two nominees for state scholarships. Information will be available at Knightstown High School for local Tri Kappa scholarships, and interested seniors are encouraged to apply.
The evening’s raffle featured a “Warm Winter’s Night” gift basket, which was won by Betts Adams. The chapter’s next meeting will be held on February 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Linch’s home, with Paula Ortman, Denise Titus and Carol Zeilinga assisting. Nominations for next year’s officers will be presented, and members are encouraged to wear Valentine red and pink.
