Sitler Hosts DAR Meeting
January 9, 2008 - The Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) met at the home of Mary Ann Sitler on January 4.
Sitler gave a program regarding the historic Huddleston Farmhouse near Cambridge City. Constructed in 1841, the house, a property belonging to the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, provides year-round events such as harvest suppers, 19th century Christmas celebrations and Civil War reenactments.
Knightstown resident Karen Trent is the facility’s new administrator. Other Knightstown area residents volunteer at Huddleston House events. Volunteers include Knightstown High School student Karsyn Mohler and Carthage residents Chris Edwards and Lisa Mercer.
The next DAR meeting will honor DAR history essay contest winners and DAR good citizens. That meeting will be held at Knightstown United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 1.
