Brenda Buck Hosts Alpha Zetas; New Member Denise Titus Welcomed

July 25, 2007 - Alpha Zeta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa, Knightstown, met July 10 at the home of Brenda Duck. Prior to the meeting, members enjoyed an al fresco buffet of salads and desserts. Guests speaker Julia Ratcliff Bouslog gave an interesting and informative presentation on the many philanthropic opportunities made available through the Henry County Community Foundation.

Newly installed president Nancy Gross conducted the chapter's annual corporate meeting, followed by the monthly business meeting. Roll call was answered by 25 members, and new member Denise Titus was warmly welcomed. The chapter received thank you notes from Tri Kappa Queen Contestant Janice Ortman, former president Kristin Haase, and KHS Summer Band Blast director Chris Holland.

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Brenda Buck presented the budget for 2007-2008. It was announced that the chapter's popular monthly raffles will be continued, and members will again be encouraged to support monthly themes by donning appropriate attire. Plans for the chapter's annual nut sale were discussed. The president reviewed committee assignments and reminded members that dues are payable by September 30.

The evening's raffle featured delectable pizzas made to order by Janet Linch. The lucky winners were Kristin Haase, Brenda Buck and Nancy Gross. The president closed the meeting by recognizing several members who marked significant Tri Kappa anniversaries. Vice President Shannon Dawson was congratulated on her fifth year of membership, and Barb Estridge and Marsha Jester were honored for their 20th years. Susie Leonard celebrated her 40th year as a member, and Libby Henshaw and Mary Jo Purtee were lauded for 46 years of service and were encouraged to go for 50.

There will be no meeting in August. The September meeting will be held at the home of Sherry Trainor on September 11 at 7:30 p.m.
