 Jack H. Evans

 October 24, 1938 - December 1, 2009

Jack H. Evans photo     Jack H. Evans, 71, of Carthage, died Dec. 1 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
     He was born Oct. 24, 1938, a son of the late Raymond and Ruby (Porter) Evans.
     Mr. Evans was known as a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed walks with his family and spending time with his family watching football. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Evans was a lightweight boxing champion. He also enjoyed fishing.
     Survivors include his wife, Emilee Evans of Carthage; a son, Kenny Evans of Greenfield; three daughters, Barbara (husband, John) Gilbert of Greenfield, Leslie (husband, Ben) Stevens of Greenfield and Rhonda (husband, James) Kracht of Carthage; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four brothers, Garry (wife, Gaye) Evans of Rushville, Larry (wife, Julie) Evans of Greenfield, Ronnie (wife, Nita) Evans of Tomahawk, Wis., and Roger (wife, Jane) Campbell of Knightstown; and three sisters, Sue Dunagan of Shelbyville, Bessie A. Vanderboom of Rushville and Judy (husband, John) Williams of Tempe, Ariz.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by another father, Emery E. Campbell; and four brothers, Bill Evans, Lawrence "Tiny" Evans, Ray Evans and Bobby Campbell.
     Funeral services were Dec. 5 at Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage with Pastors Roger Campbell and Garry Evans officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Knightstown American Legion Post 152 Honor Guard. Burial followed at Carthage Cemetery. Visitation was Dec. 5 at the church.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or March of Dimes.
