 Carol Kay Smith

 July 14, 1948 - December 6, 2009

Carol Kay Smith photo     Carol Kay Smith, 61, of Greenfield, died Dec. 6 at her home.
     She was born July 14, 1948, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Forrest and Bertha (Rumple) Steward.
     Ms. Smith attended Carthage Wesleyan Church and was employed in the laundry department at Regency Place in Greenfield. She was known as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who raised two families. She had close relationships with her brothers and sisters.
     Survivors include her children, Melissa Grant of Knightstown, Jay Smith of Knightstown, Shelva (husband, Tommy) Stephens of Knightstown and Christopher Smith of Knightstown; her siblings, Virginia Davis of Carthage, Marion (wife, Dorothy) Steward of Carthage, Albert (wife, Shirley) Steward of Greenfield, Alice (husband, Charles) Baker of North Vernon, Violet Clay of Greenfield and Floyd (wife, Sharon) Steward of Anderson; and her grandchildren, Faith Stephens of Knightstown, Angilia Stephens of Knightstown, Denise Smith of Ohio and Sarah Stephens of Knightstown.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Smith; a brother, Jack Steward; and a sister, Evelyn Marie Steward.
    Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Carthage Wesyleyan Church with Charles and Doug Stroud officiating. Burial will follow at Carthage Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Dec. 9 prior to services at the church.
