 James R. Estell

 January 14, 1935 - November 12, 2009

 

James R. "Jim" Estell, 74, of Mooreland, died Nov. 12 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Henry County, a son of the late John Henry and Nona Bell (Jackson) Estell.

Mr. Estell was a shop foreman who retired in 1993 from Life-A-Loft Industry in Cowan after nearly 30 years of service. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially boating, camping and fishing. Mr. Estell enjoyed watching NASCAR races and Colts football. In his younger years he enjoyed racing go-karts.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta J. (West) Estell; four daughters, Cherly (husband, Burl) Dudley of Fillmore, Terri Nicholas of Spiceland, Debbie Sharp of Greensboro and Nancy Kenny of New Castle; two sisters, Ruth (husband, Doug) Jackson of Springport and Lillian Ritchie of Middletown; nine grandchildren, Leslee Brown, Kim (husband, Steve) Gauck, Brandi Carnes, Matt (wife, Carla) Carnes, Alex Carnes, Jeremy Sharp, Ashley Sharp, Chelsea Kenny and Kyle Kenny; a stepgrandchild, Karen (husband, Rob) Modlin; six great-grandchildren, Cierra Brown, Zac Baldock, Blade Brown, Christopher Gauck, Addie Gauck and Emilee McKenna; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Ryan, Devin and Shaina Nickelson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Junior, Richard, Howard, Cecil and Paul Estell; his father-in-law, Vere West; mother-in-law, Pauline West; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Ritchie; and two sons-in-law, Larry Sharp and Jerry Nicholas.

Funeral services were Nov. 16 at Main and Davis Funeral Home in near Mooreland. Burial followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation was Nov. 15 at the funeral home.
