Robert Thomas Wolski
December 26, 1927 - November 5, 2009
Robert Thomas Wolski, 81, of Shirley, died Nov. 5.
He was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Anderson, a son of the late Jacob and Audrey (Love) Wolski II.
Mr. Wolski attended Saint Mary’s School and moved to Shirley in 1935. He graduated from Kennard High School in 1946. He played basketball for Kennard and remained friends with his high school teammates. Mr. Wolski served in the U.S. Army as a technician fifth grade in the medical department at Fort Dix, N.J. He later earned a tool and die maker certification and worked for Delco Remy, retiring in 1993. Known as an outstanding athlete and sports enthusiast, he was an avid fan of Bobby Knight and IU basketball, Lou Holtz and Notre Dame football, Sparky Anderson and Cincinnati Reds baseball, the TV show "MASH" and racing. Mr. Wolski also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Lola (Smalley) Wolski; a daughter, Laura (husband, Mark) Smith; a son, James (wife, Lisa) Wolski; a granddaughter; three grandsons; a sister, Anna Kennedy; a brother, Dale Wolski; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Snider; four brothers, Jacob James Wolski III, Walter Wolski, Richard Wolski and Donald Wolski; and two nephews, Andrew and Steve Wolski.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown with Father Joseph Rautenberg and Father W. Michael Kettron officiating. Private burial arrangements are pending with Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson.
