 Robert F. Payne

 August 12, 1929 - October 14, 2009

 

Robert F. Payne, 80, of Kennard, died Oct. 14 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

He was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Kennard, a son of the late Walter M. and Ethel V. (Brookshire) Payne.

Mr. Payne retired in 1993 from Delco Remy in Anderson after 40 years of service. Mr. Payne served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1948-1952. A member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152, he was also a member of UAW Local 662.

Survivors include his wife, Mitzi B. Payne; a son, Charles C. Sechrest of Kennard; a daughter, Cindy K. Rhodes of Kokomo; a sister, Nanette Porter of Kennard; a niece, Lisa Zent of Anderson; and three grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Keith Payne.

Funeral services were Oct. 19 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastors Marion McFarland and Jeff Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Military graveside rites were conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was Oct. 18 at the funeral home.
