 Kenneth M. Dalton

 August 28, 1934 - September 27, 2009

 

Kenneth M. Dalton, 75, of Bonita Springs, Fla., formerly of Martinsville, died Sept. 27 in New Castle.

He was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Bloomington, a son of the late Raymond F. and Hazel H. (Haase) Dalton.

Mr. Dalton was a 1952 Martinsville High School graduate who attended one year each at Wabash College and Indiana University. He served in the Indiana National Guard following graduation. Mr. Dalton owned Dalton Hardware and Gifts in Martinsville in the 1960s and 1970s. He also owned and operated Central Claims and Ken Dalton & Associates during the 1970s through the 90s. He served on the board of directors at First National Bank in Martinsville for several years and was a past member of the Martinsville Elks Lodge #1349. An avid golfer, he was also a member of Spanish Wells Country Club in Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley C. Dalton of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a son, Steve Dalton of Knightstown; five grandsons, Nick, A.J. and Garrett Dalton and Brian and Matt Stephey; and four great-grandchildren, Brogan, Beckhem, Kora and Kain Stephey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Clark.

Funeral services were Oct. 1 at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville with Pastor Ryan McCarty officiating.

A private committal service took place Oct. 2 at South Park Cemetery in Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Bethesda, Md.
