Martha Jane Hood
May 21, 1924 - August 31, 2009
Martha Jane (Cline) Hood, 85, of New Castle, died August 31 at Heritage House in New Castle.
She was born May 21, 1924, in Lincoln, Mo., a daughter of the late Roscoe G. and Coy F. (Carter) Cline.
Mrs. Hood was a former member of the Modern Mothers Club. She enjoyed reading and watching old movies. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed music and singing.
Survivors include her husband, Leland Hood of New Castle; two sons, Darry (wife, Sue) Hood of Knightstown and Keith (wife, Rosalie) Hood of Kokomo; five grandchildren, Scott (wife, Deanna) Hood of Lebanon, Andy (wife, Jennifer) Hood of New Castle, Allison (husband, James) Steger of Michigan, Josh (wife, Nicole) Hood of Fishers and Emily (husband, Rich) McCorkle of Knightstown; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Shirl (husband, Tom) Barnes of Greensburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Cline; two sisters, Margo Jester and Randy Laswell; and two infant brothers.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Russ Lutes officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition, in New Castle. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services on September 2 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions maybe made to the American Alzheimer's Association.
