 Charles C. Lockridge

 April 25, 1918 - August 4, 2009

Charles C. Lockridge, 91, of Kennard, died August 4 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle. He was born April 25, 1918, in Henry County, a son of the late Ora and Lelia (Chadwick) Lockridge.

Mr. Lockridge retired from Chrysler in New Castle and was also a retired electrician. He and his wife, Ruth, owned and operated Lockridge Market in Kennard for 30 years. A World War II veteran, Mr. Lockridge served in the U.S. Air Corps. He enjoyed traveling and fishing in Canada, Alaska and Florida. A past member of the Kennard Volunteer Fire Department, he was also a member of the Kennard Lions Club, Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and New Castle Eagles #933.

Survivors include one daughter, Jan Lockridge of Kennard; two grandsons, Tim Hutson of Fishers and Brad Hutson of Muncie; and a granddaughter, Cheri Hutson of Detroit, Mich.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Sue Hutson; and a brother, Sterle Lockridge.

Graveside services were August 8 at Miller Cemetery in Middletown with Rev. Marion McFarland officiating. Knightstown American Legion Post 152 conducted military graveside rites. Visitation was August 8 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Kennard Christian Church or Kennard Friends Church.
