Annabelle Powers
July 19, 1929 - July 7, 2009
Annabelle (Mattix) Powers, 79, of Charlottesville, died July 7 at her home.
She was born July 19, 1929, in Carthage, a daughter of the late Ora and Cora (Six) Mattix.
Mrs. Powers was a career computer programmer who enjoyed reading, bowling and deciphering crossword puzzles. She was known as a generous and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sisters and friend. She was a member of Park Chapel Church in Greenfield. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Steven Powers; two granddaughters, Jennifer (husband, Jeff) Boyd and Christy Powers; a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Boyd; a sister, Kathleen Bever; a brother, John Mattix; two sisters-in-law, Mary Powers and Marybelle Mattix; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. "Doc" Powers; a brother, Lawrence Mattix; and a sister, Helen "Juanita" Boring.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Dave Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
