George H. Wilson
Apr. 27, 1917 – June 13, 2009
George Henry Wilson, 92, of Lebanon, formerly of New Castle, died June 13 at Parkwood Healthcare in Lebanon.
He was born April 27, 1917, in New Cumberland, Pa., a son of the late G.W.H. Wilson and Sudie (Brinton) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson retired from Indiana National Bank in Indianapolis after 36 years of service, part of which he served as assistant vice president of the cash department and armored car paying and receiving. He was a graduate of New Cumberland (Pa.) High School and Thompson’s Business College in New Cumberland. Mr. Wilson served as staff sergeant in the Army Air Force 9th Troop Carrier Command from 1942-1946 and was based at Stout Field in Indianapolis.
Mr. Wilson was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite N.M.J. Valley of Indianapolis. He was also a member of Southport Lodge #270 F&AM, as well as the American Legion and VFW.
Survivors include two sons, William F. (wife, Esther) Wilson of Indianapolis and James G. (wife, Beverly) Wilson of Knightstown; four grandchildren, Rachel of Indianapolis, Christopher (wife, Donna) of Greenfield, Michael of Kendallville and Emily (husband, Dan) Pyle of Bloomington; a great-granddaughter, Cecilia Wilson; a brother-in-law, William Zix of Indianapolis; and a niece, Jane (husband, Robert) Rosenthal of Mechanicsburg, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Armilla (Zix) Wilson; his second wife, Bee T. (Butler) Wilson; two brothers, James and Russell; and a sister, Mary, all of New Cumberland.
Funeral services were June 16 at Flanner & Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center in Indianapolis with Rev. Esther Wilson officiating. Burial followed at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 689, Columbus, Ind. 47202. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville handled arrangements.
