Charles E. Millis
July 24, 1932 – June 7, 2009
Charles E. Millis, 76, of Kennard, died June 7 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
He was born July 24, 1932, in Greensboro, a son of the late Ervin and Esther (Thomas) Millis.
Mr. Millis was a transformer inspector at Westinghouse in Muncie for over 15 years. He retired from the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation maintenance department and worked as a superintendent at the Kennard waste water treatment plant. A member of Kennard Baptist Church, Mr. Millis also belonged to the Kennard Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, serving as chief for two years.
Survivors include his wife, Sue (Neal) Millis; four sons, Richard Lynn Millis, Christopher (wife, Heather) Millis, Bruce (wife, Amy) Bowling and Jeff Bowling; two daughters, Lesa Ann Millis-Beckham and Lisa (husband, Drew) Schneider; nine grandchildren, Marshall Scott Lyons, Landon and Cal Bowling, Alex and Zach Millis, Brooke and Erin Schneider, Mollie Johnson and Kelsey Bowling; and two great-granddaughters, Kylee Purcell and Ella Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Marc Millis; a sister, Thelma Nelson; and three brothers, Richard, Carl and Fredrick Millis.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Revs. Dillard Cole and Mike Price officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Garden in New Castle. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
