 Peggy Ann Stephens

 Jan.4, 1947 – May 29, 2009

Peggy Stephens photo    Peggy Ann Stephens, 62, of Carthage, died May 29 at her home.
     She was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Greenfield, a daughter of the Lois (Bunch) Smith and the late Fred Smith.
     Mrs. Stephens was a member of Faith Chapel Independent Baptist Church in Knightstown. She enjoyed camping, fishing and was known as an excellent cook. Mrs. Stephens enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and the rest of her family.
     Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Donnie Stephens; six children, Robert Stephens of Carthage, Tim (wife, Stacey) Stephens of Carthage, Chuck (wife, Heather) Stephens of Carthage, Teresa (husband, Dan) Cullison of Carthage, Dawn (husband, Nathan) Sanders of Carthage and and Kimberly (husband, Doug) Jett of Shelbyville; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother, Lois Smith of Knightstown; seven siblings, James (wife, Evelyn) Smith of Whiteland, Mary Jones of Knightstown, Carl (wife, Irene) Smith of Indianapolis, Mildred (husband, Jim) White of Spiceland, Herbie (wife, Sharon) Smith of Syracuse, Allen (wife, Sue) Smith of Carthage and David (wife, Patty) Smith of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by four brothers; four sisters; a granddaughter, a grandson; some nephews and a great-niece.
     Funeral services were June 1 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation was May 31 at the funeral home.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
