 Haskel Back

 June 14, 1921 – June 1, 2009

Haskel Back, 87, of Carthage, died June 1 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

He was born June 14, 1921, in Olive Hill, Ky., a son of the late Taylor and Mary Back.

Mr. Back retired from Container Corporation in Carthage after 17 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, playing guitar, family cookouts, music and his church, Faith Chapel Independent Baptist Church in Knightstown.

Survivors include his wife, June (Owens) Back of Carthage; three sons, Stanley (wife, Judy) Back of Shirley, Stirl Back of Knightstown and Billy (wife, Gretchen) Back of Knightstown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Randy Gross officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation is 4-8 p.m.. Friday, June 5, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
