 Tony E. Riley

 Sep. 4, 1919 – May 17, 2009

Tony E. Riley, 89, of Shelbyville, died May 17 at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

He was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Lewis County, Ky., a son of the late Jack W. and Mary Jane (Richmond) Riley.

Mr. Riley was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, in which he served as a medical technician. He was an avid gardener and woodworker and was known as a passionate and hardworking gardener. He attended Carthage Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Olive (Spence) Riley of Shelbyville; a daughter, Janice Clark of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Rodney (wife, Terri) Fannin of Colorado and Boyd (wife, Jami) Fannin of Beech Grove; four great-grandchildren, Clay, Wyatt, Garrett and Baileigh Fannin; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Hannah and Dalton Perry; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Verlin Chip officiating. Military rites will be conducted and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at the funeral home.
