 Leland Kendall

Leland Kendall photo    Leland E. Kendall, 84, of Shirley, died April 8 at Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle.
     He was born March 5, 1925, in Shirley, a son of the late Charles and Edna (McLeland) Kendall.
     A 1943 Kennard High School graduate, he was a former member of the Charles A. Beard school board and a member of Kennard Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was active in the American Legion. He was also a member of the Kennard Lions Club. Mr. Leland was known for his athletic abilities, having held many county records in basketball as a Kennard Leopardcat.
     Survivors include two sons, Tim (wife, Cathy) Kendall of Shirley and Andy (wife, Leah) Kendall of McCordsville; four grandchildren, Darby Kendall, Seth Kendall, Mallory Kendall and Clara Kendall; and a nephew, John Kendall.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Kendall.
    Funeral services were April 11 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Dale Riggs officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was April 10 at the funeral home.
