 John “J.C.” Drysdale

 May 28, 1923 – Jan. 21, 2009

John “J.C.” Drysdale, 85, of Kennard, died January 21 at his home.

He was born May 28, 1923, in Kennard, a son of the late Charles and Mary (O’Dell) Drysdale.

Mr. Drysdale retired from Delco Remy in Anderson after 33 years of service. He also worked at Mt. Lawn Speedway, earning honors as Mt. Lawn’s longest-term employeed. He worked the speedway gate for 60 years. Mr. Drysdale enjoyed gardening, sports and racing at Mt. Lawn. A member of Kennard Christian Church, he also belonged to the American Legion, VFW and Eagles Lodge. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Drysdale was a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Kern) Drysdale; five children, Cindy Sweigart of New Castle, Jeff Drysdale of Atlanta, Ga., Becky Drysdale of Kennard, Dan (wife, Teri) Drysdale of Kennard and Mary Beth (husband, Gary) Pribble of Kennard; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma (husband, Steve) Meikamp of Kennard; and a brother-in-law, Roger Ray of Kennard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Funeral services were January 24 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Marion McFarland officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was January 24 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 152 or the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
