 Rev. Marvin L. Hughes

 Sept. 10, 1934 – Dec. 22, 2008

Rev. Marvin L. Hughes, 74, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Knightstown, died December 22 at Deaconess Hospital.

He was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Jennings County, a son of the late Sherman W. and Elsie (Allee) Hughes.

Mr. Hughes attended Knightstown schools and was a 1952 KHS graduate. He later earned a bachelors degree from Frankfort Pilgrims College. He served churches in Otwell, French Lick, Shelbyville, and at Forest Hills Wesleyan church in Evansville. Mr. Hughes served as the Wesleyan Church’s district superintendent for southern Indiana. He also served as a trustee for Indiana Wesleyan University for 19 years. He retired and served as pastor at Ft. Branch Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Hughes of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Jewell (husband, Dr. Gene) Flick of Evansville, Acacia (husband, Mike) Peak of Evansville; Marlissa (husband, Michael) Stauffer of Hillard, Ohio, and Jennifer (husband, Darrin) Eaton of Evansville; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Flick, Amanda Flick, Alexander Flick, Clayton Flick, Allee Peak, Olivia Stauffer, Madison Eaton, Abbyanna Eaton, Emma Eaton, Ellie Eaton and Judah Eaton; and a brother, Melvin W. Hughes of Knightstown.

Funeral services were December 27 at Forest Hills Wesleyan Church with Dr. Earle Wilson and Rev. William Oden officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery. Boone Funeral Home in Evansville.
