 Mary Alice Stewart

 May 20, 1919 – Dec. 21, 2008

Mary Alice Stewart, 89, of Greenfield, formerly of Shirley, died December 21 at Golden Living Center in Greenfield.

She was born May 20, 1919, in Hancock County, a daughter of the late Ora and Freda Clutter.

Mrs. Stewart retired as postmaster of the Shirley post office in 1983. She was a member of Shirley Christian Church, Shirley Order of the Eastern Star #492 and the Shirley Alpha Club. An avid Indiana Pacers fan, she was active in a variety of Shirley civic activities and festivals.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Stewart of Shirley; a daughter, Peggy Stewart of Philadelphia, Penn.; a grandson, Brannan (wife, Jennifer) Stewart of Pendelton; a great-granddaughter, McKenna Stewart; and two nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; a daughter, Tanya Stewart; a brother, Cary Clutter; and a nephew, Richard Clutter.

Funeral services were December 24 at Condo & Son Funeral Home with Gary Sickle officiating. Burial followed at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Visitation was December 23 at the funeral home. Eastern Star serves were December 23. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
