 Lila E. McRoberts

 Aug. 10, 1914 – Dec. 27, 2008

Lila E. McRoberts, 94, of Knightstown, died December 27 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle.

She was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Golf, Kansas, a daughter of the late Ed and Maude (Jones) Plank.

Mrs. McRoberts worked at a canning factory, bakery and grade school in Knightstown. She retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis. A longtime active member of Ogden United Methodist Church, she sang in the church choir. Mrs. McRoberts enjoyed quilting, crocheting, flowers, gardening and being outdoors.

Survivors include a son, Ed (wife, Ann Marie) McRoberts of New Castle; three daughters, Erma (husband, Ronald) Elliott and Peggy (husband, Pete) Williams, all of Knightstown, and Bonnie (husband, Harold) Bailey of Niles, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie Roller of Springfield, Ill., and Ileta McDonald of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest McRoberts; a son, Earnest McRoberts, Jr.; a brother, Carl Plank; and two sisters, Faye Brooks and Ruby Nicholas.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Carolyn Stoten officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was December 30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ogden United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
