Fred Stacy
June 4, 1930 – Nov. 22, 2008
Fred Stacy, 78, of Knightstown, died November 22 at his home.
He was born June 4, 1930, in Ryan, Ky., a son of the late Fred and Corda (McRoberts) Stacy.
Mr. Stacy retired from Ford Motor Company in 1989. He then worked for GasAmerica Services, Inc., for 18 years. Mr. Stacy was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of Knightstown American Legion Post 152 and served as bookkeeper for that organization for the last 19 years. A member of Wilkinson Church of Christ, he was recognized in 1990 as a master life bridge player by the American Contract Bridge League.
Survivors include his wife, Carole (Miller) Stacy of Knightstown; two daughters, Pam Stacy of Knightstown and Beth (husband, Dennis) Spegal of Knightstown; three sons, Barry Stacy of Indianapolis, David (wife, Teri) Stacy of Indianapolis and Mark (wife, Debbie) Stacy of Shirley; seven grandchildren, Nick Spegal, Amanda Cooper, Tyler Turner, Dalton Stacy, Katie Stacy, Conner Stacy and Jacob Stacy; a great-grandson, Gavin Spegal; four sisters, Jo Gosser, Becky (husband, Jim) Lundstrom, Linda (husband, Bob) Cullison and Marlene (husband, Gary) Wampler; three brothers, Kermit (wife, Martha) Stacy, Bill (wife, Debbie) Ratliff and Charles (wife, Sandy) Ratliff; and an aunt, Maxine Prewitt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie De Weese.
Funeral services were November 26 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Ryan McCarty and Russ Lutes officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military graveside services conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Visitation was November 25 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilkinson Church of Christ or the GasAmerica Charitable Foundation.
