Delcie Mae Adkins
Sept. 19, 1929 – Nov. 25, 2008
Delcie Mae Adkins, 79, of Greensboro, died November 25 at her home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Olive Hill, Ky., a daughter of the late Noah and Mary Kathreen Keaton.
Mrs. Adkins worked in the laundry facility at Henry County Memorial Hospital and in the dietary unit at Hancock Regional Hospital and Heritage House, as well as Brooks Canning in Mt. Summit. She attended North 14th Street Church of God in New Castle. Mrs. Adkins enjoyed quilting, embroidery, gardening, food preservation, playing checkers and singing. She was also known for her love of her dog, Annie.
Survivors include her husband, Rufus Adkins of Greensboro; two daugthers, Barbara (husband, Donald, Sr.,) Dalton of Greensboro and Marlena (husband, Dennis) Adkins of Knightstown; three sons, Marvin (wife, Cindy) Adkins of Knightstown, Larry (wife, Mary) Adkins of Greensboro and Gary Adkins of Monticello; a sister, Sylvia Denney of New Castle; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Adkins; a grandson, Christopher Adkins; a great-grandson, Charles Adkins; two brothers, Joe Keaton and Claude Ray Keaton; a sister, Lucille Adkins; and an infant sister, Lillian Keaton.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, November 28, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Elwood Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Friday, November 28, at the funeral home.
