 James T. Butcher

 June 15, 1923 – Oct. 8, 2008

James T. Butcher, 85, of Greenfield, formerly of Shirley, died October 8 at Regency Place in Greenfield.

He was born June 15, 1923, a son of the late Claude and Dorthy (Moore) Butcher.

Mr. Butcher was a lifelong Shirley resident who retired from the Hancock County highway department. He was also a lifelong trucker and an avid raccoon hunter.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (wife, Judith) Butcher of Fortville and William Butcher of Kennard; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Helen Butcher; four brothers, John, Bob, Gerald and Roy Butcher; a sister, Mary Haynes; a daughter, Brenda Moore; and a son, Donald Butcher.

Funeral services were October 11 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Darrell Deck officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was October 10 at the funeral home.
