 Sue Ann Land

 March 20, 1935 – Sept. 26, 2008

Sue Ann Land photo    Sue Ann Land, 73, of Carthage, died September 26 at The Waters of New Castle.
     She was born March 20, 1935, in Henry County, a daughter of the late Ralph I. and Catherine (Murphy) Truitt.
     Mrs. Land was valedictorian of the Carthage High School Class of 1952. She graduated from Indiana University in 1956 and Ball State University in 1969 with a masters degree. She was past grand president of Kappa Kappa Sigma 1985-86. Mrs. Land was also a member of the Mixers Home Economics Club and served as director of the Rush County Home Economics Chorus since 1995. She was a longtime 4-H member, past matron of the Eastern Star and a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was an organist and pianist at her church since 1967. She was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church in Anderson.
     Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, a son, Kelly Land of Carthage; a daughter, Victoria (husband, Walt) Fafata of Knightstown; a grandson, Jonathan Peper of Knightstown; four step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Magee.
     Funeral services were September 30 at Cross Roads United Methodist Church in Anderson. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was September 29 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown.
