 Jesse Blevins

 April 4, 1918 – Sept. 4, 2008

Jesse Blevins, 90, of New Castle, died September 4 at his home.

He was born April 4, 1918, in Parnell, Ky., a son of the late James and Emily (Miller) Blevins.

Mr. Blevins retired from Indiana Gas & Water Co., in 1979 after 27 years of service. He enjoyed caring for and riding his horses. He and his late wife, Ruth, also enjoyed riding horses in area parades. Mr. Blevins was known as an outdoorsman who raised cattle. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include six daughters, Betty (husband, Jay) Campbell of Mooreland, Joan (husband, Charles) Stigall of New Castle, Fay (husband, Allen) Owens of New Castle, Carol (husband, Kenny) Stockton of Cambridge City, Gail (husband, Danny) Morgan of New Castle and Genny (husband, Thomas) Weinert of Millville; two sons, Arlie Blevins and Hank Blevins, both of New Castle; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Marion (wife, Lois) Blevins of Spiceland; a sister, Eva Hollars of New Castle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Coffey) Blevins; six grandchildren; six brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services were September 8 at Main & Davis Funeral Home in New Castle with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Burial followed at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle. Visitation was September 7 at the funeral home.
