Richard Waits
May 22, 1944 – Aug. 6, 2008
Richard “Dick” Waits, 64, of Knightstown, died August 6 at Regency Place Nursing Home in Greenfield.
He was born May 22, 1944, in Rush County, a son of the late James L. and Josephine (Ruddell) Waits.
Mr. Waits was a 1962 Rushville High School graduate who later attended Purdue University. He lived in Knightstown most of his life. Mr. Waits owned and operated 311 Shops and Prudential Insurance for 15 years. He was a member of Knightstown United Methodist Church, Indianapolis Professional Photography Guild, Knightstown Chamber of Commerce and Henry County 4-H, in which he served as a judge and leader. An avid motorcyclist, Mr. Waits was also a member of the now defunct Knightstown Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Waits of Knightstown; two sons, Chris (wife, Sarah) Waits of Prospect, Ky., and Craig (wife, Meg) Waits of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Lois (wife, Wayne) Nichols of Connersville and Barbara Waits of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Morgan and Parker Waits and Gracie Waits; and four stepgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services were August 9 at Knightstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Wells officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was August 8 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Knightstown United Methodist Church or the Alzheimers Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
