 Doris Leanna Jackson

 May 17, 1922 – Aug. 11, 2008

Leanna Jackson photo    Doris Leanna Jackson, 86, of Carthage, died August 11 at Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield.
    She was born May 17, 1922, in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late Caroll Averitt and Icy (Van-Meter) Chance.
    Mrs. Jackson lived in Carthage most of her life. She was known as someone who helped the sick and shut-ins by taking them food or driving them to doctor appointments. Mrs. Jackson was also a restaurant owner.
    Survivors include a so n, John (wife, Helen) Geise of Syracuse; a daughter, Kathleen Hammack of Temple, Tex.; two grandsons, Greg Geise of Fort Wayne and Jeff Davis of Ohio; and a granddaughter, Debbie Dashiell of Fort Wayne.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Geise; her second husband, Carl Jackson; a son, Mike Geise; two brothers; and three sisters.
    Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, August 15, at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown. Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 9-11 a.m. on Friday, August 15. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
