Neva L. Sullivan
Oct. 13, 1918 – July 24, 2008
Neva L. Sullivan, 89, of Knightstown, died July 24 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield..
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Henry County, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Nellie (Rhoades) Crandall.
Mrs. Sullivan attended school at Cadiz and graduated from Sulphur Springs High School. She and her husband, Joseph L. Sullivan, owned and operated Western Auto Store in Richmond, Sullivan’s Restaurant (formerly known as Falcon Drive-In) in Knightstown and Sullivan’s Package Store in Knightstown. Mrs. Sullivan was a lifelong member of Nu Chapter, Phi Chi Epsilon sorority of New Castle, in which she served as past grand president and past grand editor at the national level. Additionally, she was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Knightstown and the Women’s Association of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed working in her yard and garden, cooking and working at her family’s businesses. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Sullivan Coleman of Knightstown; a grandson, Robert Joseph Coleman of Miami, Fla.; two great-grandsons, Taylor Coleman and Bradley Coleman of Florida; a great-granddaughter, Anna Victoria Coleman of Florida; two brothers, Glen E. Crandall of Yuma, Ariz., and Earl Wayne Crandall of Mooresville; a sister, Norman June Weintraut of Hagerstown; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; three sisters, Dorotha Chapman, Ruby Anderson and Nancy Crandall Schaffer; and a brother, Keith Crandall.
Funeral services were July 28 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Mervin Kilmer officiating. Burial followed at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation was July 27 at the funeral home. Phi Chi Epsilon sorority conducted services on July 27. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock Hospice or Bethel Presbyterian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
