George E. Addison

Feb. 5, 1930 – July 9, 2008

George E. Addison, 78, of New Castle, died July 9.

He was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Yorktown, a son of the late Edward M. and Alma Viola Addison.

Mr. Addison was a 1948 Kennard High School graduate, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He retired from Bridgestone-Firestone after 29 years of service. Mr. Addison was an avid wildlife photographer, who also enjoyed attending New Castle High School girls’ basketball games. He also enjoyed watching Indiana Fever WNBA and Indiana University basketball games. An avid horseshoe player, Mr. Addison was a Georgia State Horseshoe Pitching champion. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Glenda Kaye (husband, Joe) Hyden of Tennessee, Beth Addison of New Castle, Judy Harlow of New Castle and Vanessa (husband, Terri) Gobbel of Pennsylvania; three sons, George (wife, Elaine) Addison, Jr., of New Castle, Bud Addison of Indianapolis and Phillip (wife, Debbie) Addison of New Castle; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Adams of New Castle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Eileen (Roudebush) Addison; and a granddaughter, Cindy Robinson.

Funeral services were July 11 at Main & Davis Funeral Home in New Castle. Visitation was July 11 at the funeral home.
