Evelyn Karpinski

July 3, 1917 – July 3, 2008

Evelyn (Young) Karpinski, 91, of Shirley, died July 3 at Morristown Manor in Morristown.

She was born July 3, 1917, in Brown Township, Hancock County, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Stella (Walker) Young.

Mrs. Karpinski retired from Delco Remy Plant 3 in Anderson in 1971. She was a member of Local 662 and Wilkinson Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Anita Young of Greenfield; two sons, Jack (wife, Vicky) Friddle of Greenfield and Roger (wife, Sherry) Rigney of Wilkinson; a sister, June Zirkle of Chesterfield; two sisters-in-law, Madeline Young of Markleville and Emogene Young of Greenfield; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Yong, Robert Young and Gerald Young; two sisters, Doris Johns and Ruth Scott; and a grandchild, Teresa Jo Brumfield.

Funeral services were July 8 at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Pastor Tracy Wright officiating. Burial followed at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation was July 7 at the funeral home.
