Nola Edith Spence

Jan. 4, 1927 – June 30, 2008

Nola Edith Spence, 81, of Carthage, died June 30 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Lewis County, Ky., a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Logan.

Mrs. Logan was a member of Carthage Early Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed growing flowers. She was known as a devoted wife and mother and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Loran (wife, Judy) Spence of Monticello, Ky., and Larry (wife, Lisa) Spence of Carthage; a daughter, Sharon (husband, Russell) Kline of Carthage; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra Spence; and nine siblings.

Funeral services are Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Rev. Peter Casalino officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the funeral home.
