John David Hatton
Nov. 7, 1962 – May 17, 2008
John David Hatton, 45, of Knightstown, died May 17 at his home.
He was born Nov. 7, 1962, in Columbia City, a son of the late Delbert Lamar Hatton and Dorothy C. (Earl) Hatton of Knightstown.
Mr. Hatton was a 1981 Union City Community High School graduate, where he performed saxophone with the band, played football, participated in the DECA program and was nominated prom king. A factory worker, he was known as an avid and talented guitar player. Mr. Hatton enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed collecting Indian relics, such as arrowheads, and fossils. He had a passion for history and his Bible was marked with passages he held dear. Known for his love for his family, Mr. Hatton was also a musician, inventor, writer and humorist.
Survivors include three sons, Jeremiah Pitman of Chicago, Quinton Hatton and Michael Hatton; a daughter, Susanah Hatton of Portland; his mother, Dorothy Hatton of Knightstown; a sister, Sarah (husband, Steve) Brishaber of Shirley; a brother, Tom (wife, Lisa) Hatton of Union City; five nephews, James, John and Luke Brishaber, and Thomas and Elijah Hatton; two nieces, Alania (husband, Tony) Dittmar of Union City and Tisha (husband, Tony) Banter of Berne; two aunts, Doris (husband, Allen) Rice of North Manchester and Mary Maurer of St. Mary’s, Ohio; an uncle, Paul (wife, Betty) Baker of Sidney, Ohio; and several cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Suzanne and Sandy Hatton; a brother, Jim Hatton; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Earl and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert J. Hatton.
Funeral services May 24 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Union City with Rev. James Hill officiating. Burial followed at Union City Cemetery. Visitation was May 23 at Reichard Funeral Home in Union City. Memorial contributions may be made to Union City Community High School.
